Esquire is a men's magazine that is owned by the Hearst Corporation and was founded in 1933. The magazine really flourished during the depression under the guidance of founder and editor Arnold Gingrich. The magazine originally started as a racy magazine and was transformed into a more refined magazine with an emphasis on men's fashion and contributions by such literary masters as Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Esquire also helped pioneer the trend of new journailis,of New Journalism by publishing such famous writers as Norman Mailer, Tim O'Brien, John Sack, Gay Talese and Tom Wolfe.
